What is ADHD Coaching?

The idea of personal coaching to help individuals with ADHD was first presented in an article by written by world renown ADHD expert Dr. Edward Hallowell in 1995. The article, "Coaching: An Adjunct to the Treatment of ADHD," was based on Dr. Hallowell’s clinical experience as a psychiatrist working with patients with ADHD and his frustration with his inability to provide the more intensive support that was often necessary to help his patients manage the challenges and complications of daily life.

According to Hallowell, the challenges those with ADHD faced lied “not so much in assessing what they should do as in following through. Most individuals with ADHD can tell you what they would like to do, their problem lies in doing it.”
